Pops and Bangs

We can remap your car ECU tuning for pops and bangs or anti-lag on deceleration. You’ve heard them before – the cackling, popping and banging of a performance vehicle’s exhaust on deceleration. Its sometimes called a deceleration map, crackle map, anti-lag system, popcorn, exhaust crackle, pop on overrun, exhaust overrun to name a few.

Having a turbo is not a requirement for pops and bangs, since the most important segments are the delays in ignition and fuel cut-off. The only difference between cars with and without a turbo is that turbocharged cars will benefit from the anti-lag feature i.e. boost will be there as soon as you put your foot back on the accelerator as the turbo is still spooled up.

There are two different types of Pops and Bangs pricing which are dependant on the ECU type you have. The first is Non-Switchable Pops and Bangs which means the sound comes on during deceleration and when the engine is above 3000rpm. This tune is priced at $550 + GST if ordered alone, or if ordered with a Power Tune at the same time the combination price is $1195 + GST. If you havent already disabled and removed the Catalytic Converter, this needs to be done in addtion as the Pops & Bangs is highly likely to damage the catalytic converter, and the CAT acts as a muffler so the Pops & Bangs or Burble wont be heard. The second type is Switchable Pops and Bangs which is available for VW, Audi & Skoda vehicles fitted with the Bosch ECU MED9.1. There is an accessory switch fitted to these vehicles from the factory when new, that allows the Pops and Bangs to be switched On or Off as the driver so chooses. The Switchable Pops and Bangs are priced at $695 + GST if ordered alone, or if ordered with a Power Tune at the same time the combination price is $1250 + GST. The same conditions apply with respect to the Catalytic needeing to be removed which is in addtion to the Tune price.
